Not many of us are using 3G/4G dongles these days, but I had to for some reason. I have a Windows 10 host and a Hyper-V VM Ubuntu guest OS. Problem: Having a connection issue from the guest OS when a dongle is used. Each time I connect through the dongle, guest OS loses outside connectivity. (It works fine if I use Wifi) Fix: In your windows machine, open Control Panel Go to View network status and tasks Click on Change adapter settings Right-click on your dongle connection. Select Properties in the right-click context menu Go to Sharing tab Check Allow other network users to connect through this computer's Internet connection Use VEthernet (Default Switch) in the drop-down list (If your VM uses some other switch, use the proper connection) Hit OK. It should work now. If it still doesn't, disconnect and reconnect your VM's network connection from the VM itself.

Previously I've posted about what is a hackathon and  why you should go to hackathons . This post is about some points that you should concern if you really want to win a hackathon. I'm going to write this as a series of posts because I might need to describe some details for each area you have to concern. So, let this be the first post of the series. There can be two types of wins. 1. Unexpected wins I'm not ashamed to say most of the wins I've had from hackathons are unexpected. Yet they are the best! because you never expect to win at all. I bought a Pixel 3 about 7-8 months back and was really happy about it. Ran smoothly and everything was perfect until I came across this issue. I'm writing this post because I couldn't find any help online much not even from Google support. So anybody else also having this issue, hope it will be helpful for you. Issue: No connectivity at all. No Wifi: even if you turn on/off Wifi several time, it doesn't search or connect. No cell service: No reception, but the SIM card works if you try it with another phone. Says the phone is in airplane mode and no radio when you try to make a call. What happened to me and what I did It happened a couple of times for me and the very first time, I tried network reset but it didn't work. This post is for young developers, students or anybody who is interested in Hackathons. If you don't know what a hackathon is, it is a competition for programmers. Something like a programming marathon. Why there is a "hack" instead of programmingthon or something? Well, this is my personal opinion, in hackathons, they don't expect you to hack like illegally. The idea is to do something fast and not the way someone normally do. Normally for hackathons, you get around 24 to 48 hours to build something (maybe weeks depending on the event). In order to build something that fast, you gotta use some tricks, or tweak a little than what people normally do. What do I know about hackathons to write about them? Well, I don't like to brag about myself but yeah I've participated into number of local and international hackathons and won few prizes as well.
