Not many of us are using 3G/4G dongles these days, but I had to for some reason. I have a Windows 10 host and a Hyper-V VM Ubuntu guest OS.
Problem:
Having a connection issue from the guest OS when a dongle is used.
Each time I connect through the dongle, guest OS loses outside connectivity.
(It works fine if I use Wifi)
Fix:
In your windows machine, open Control Panel
Go to View network status and tasks
Click on Change adapter settings
Right-click on your dongle connection.
Select Properties in the right-click context menu
Go to Sharing tab
Check Allow other network users to connect through this computer's Internet connection
Use VEthernet (Default Switch) in the drop-down list (If your VM uses some other switch, use the proper connection)
Hit OK.
It should work now. If it still doesn't, disconnect and reconnect your VM's network connection from the VM itself.
